
What Is Weight Management?
I talk about Weight Management rather than Weight Loss because I want to distance myself from the dieting industry in both message and methodology. I have no interest in helping you lose 10 pounds, only for you to put it back on again a few months later; instead I want to help you get to a sensible, realistic weight, maintain it long-term, and feel good about yourself. I want you to be able to self-regulate and self-correct.
Inevitably throughout your life, your weight will change due to any number of factors. Weight management means that you won’t confuse being a certain size with some kind of failing on your part. You’ll be able to simply notice that things aren’t how you want them to be, and work to change it in a way that is comfortable and sustainable for the unique individual that you are. Most importantly, you’ll be able to do this without worrying, or believing that any weight fluctuation makes you a ‘bad person’. This is a change for life, not a quick short-term solution.
Weight fluctuation can occur for any number of reasons. Most commonly it comes from unhelpful behaviours that we mistakenly learn through trauma, childhood, or both. These behaviour are often compounded by the brain seeking easy dopamine-generating activities, for example overeating, choosing to watch TV instead of exercise, etc.
How Do I Treat It?
Hypnosis, or trance, is a very common mental state in which the subconscious and the conscious mind communicate. Simply put, whenever we use our imagination, we are briefly entering trance. It is in these moments that we can help the subconscious unlearn its less helpful responses, and pick up new, more beneficial ones.
I use a blended and systematic approach to treat weight management. After creating an environment where you can feel safe and respected, I will help you neutralise any trauma that may have caused your brain to develop your unwanted habits, and help you pick new habits based on the long term goals you have. I use the highly effective Rewind and Timeline therapies to do this, as well as more conversational techniques and powerful mental rehearsal so you can hit the ground running with new habits in place before you even leave the treatment room. My focus is always on sustainability of success; rather than have you coming back for more sessions every few months, I want to create a change that will continue to work for you throughout the rest of your life.
During this process, you will go into trance a number of times. You will have full awareness and control of yourself in these moments, and will easily be able to communicate or stop if you feel uncomfortable. I use calming, neutral language and relaxation techniques to help make this process feel restful and rejuvenating, with clients often reporting a ‘refreshed’ feeling after a session is over.
Depending on the clients past experiences, this is generally done within 15 sessions at the most, although sometimes significantly fewer are required.

- Better capacity to make rational decisions
- Ability to stand up for yourself in an appropriate manner
- Feeling unencumbered, or ’lighter’
- Greater resilience in difficult situations
